Exercise 4

Study Guide

Direction:  Read the study manual aloud.

Introducing yourself in a meeting is an important professional skill. A good introduction is short, clear, and confident. In American business culture, people often start with their name and role. This helps others quickly understand who you are and how you fit into the team. Managers like Mr. Miller prefer the bottom line first, so it is helpful to say your main responsibility early.

You can also show a positive attitude by using friendly expressions like “I’m happy to be on board” or “I’m looking forward to working with you.” These phrases make you sound motivated and professional.
It is common to mention how you will communicate, for example, “I’ll touch base with you every Friday.” This shows responsibility and organization.

Finally, be polite and natural. Smile, speak clearly, and keep your introduction simple. A strong first introduction helps build trust and teamwork from the beginning.
